PRE-OPERATION ONCOLOGY CALM PREPARATION SUPPORT

Soothing, Relaxing Pre-Op Breathing, Rest & Readiness Protocol
Controlled Wellness-Support Use Only

Not Medical Treatment - Not Sedation - Not Anesthesia - Not A Substitute For Surgical Instructions

Overview
The QHS Pre-Operation General Surgery Calm Preparation Support Protocol is a controlled wellness-support audio session intended to support relaxation, breathing steadiness, pre-operative emotional calm, sleep preparation, sensory quieting, and recovery-state readiness before a general surgery event.

This protocol is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, prevent, reverse, or manage any surgical condition, pain state, anxiety disorder, anesthetic requirement, or medical condition. The surgeon, anesthesiologist, pre-op nurse, facility instructions, and licensed medical team remain primary at all times.

Intended to Support

  • Pre-op calming and relaxation support
  • Breathing steadiness and emotional settling support
  • Quiet rest the night before surgery
  • Waiting-room or pre-arrival calm when medically appropriate
  • Sensory quieting before a stressful procedure day
  • Sleep preparation before surgery
  • General readiness and nervous-system downshift support

Use Classification

This is an event-based pre-operative support file. It is not a weekly wellness file and is not intended for repeated daily use outside a scheduled surgical preparation window.

Event-Use Schedule

Night before surgery - 1 session during bedtime preparation or evening quiet rest, if desired and comfortable

Morning of surgery - Optional 1 session before leaving for the surgical facility, only if it does not interfere with arrival time, fasting instructions, medication instructions, or communication with the care team

At facility / waiting period - Only with facility permission and only at low volume or with one ear available so instructions are not missed

Maximum use in pre-op window - No more than 2 sessions in a 24-hour pre-op period unless specifically cleared and well tolerated

Session separation - At least 2-4 hours between sessions; longer is acceptable

Do not - Do not loop continuously, do not play overnight on repeat, do not use during consent review, active instructions, transfer, anesthesia induction, or any time the care team needs full attention

Surgery-Team Primacy And Safety Rules

  • Follow all surgeon, anesthesiologist, facility, medication, fasting, bathing, transportation, and arrival-time instructions.
  • Do not use headphones or audio in a way that prevents hearing nurses, physicians, alarms, announcements, or instructions.
  • Do not use during medical consent review, anesthesia interview, medication verification, IV placement instructions, transfer, or active pre-op preparation unless the team specifically permits it.
  • If the file makes the user drowsy, emotionally uncomfortable, dizzy, disoriented, nauseated, or less able to communicate, stop the file and tell the care team if needed.
  • This file does not replace prescribed anti-anxiety medication, anesthesia, pain control, breathing instructions, or surgical care.

Combining With Other QHS TOUCH Files

Do not play two QHS TOUCH files at the same time.

  • The evening before surgery: this pre-op file may replace the usual Evening Touch or Deep Sleep file.
  • Morning of surgery: avoid stacking with Morning Touch if the pre-op file is being used before departure.
  • Once inside the surgical facility, use only this file, if permitted, and do not combine with other QHS files.
  • Do not stack with trauma, deep sleep, neural recovery, pineal, strong musculoskeletal, or condition-specific files during the immediate pre-op window unless already reviewed and clearly tolerated.
  • The priority is clear communication, calm breathing, and surgical-team instructions.

Pre-Op Practical Guidelines

  • Keep volume low.
  • Use seated or reclined in a safe position.
  • Keep written surgery instructions, arrival time, medication instructions, and transportation plan visible and separate from the audio experience.
  • Use breathing that feels natural. Do not force deep breathing if uncomfortable.
  • Stop immediately if any clinician needs your attention.
  • Use one earbud or low room speaker if there is any chance instructions may be given.

Stop / Pause Rules

  • Pause if dizziness, nausea, disorientation, emotional distress, headache, sensory overload, or unusual discomfort occurs.
  • Pause if you feel too sleepy to follow instructions.
  • Pause if the surgical facility calls, staff enters, consent is being reviewed, medication is being discussed, or procedures are beginning.
  • Seek clinical help immediately for chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting, severe allergic symptoms, severe new pain, confusion, or any urgent concern.
